| Notes: | This document is clearly a three membrane section from a much longer original roll. A note at the top of m. 2 states that 'this bill' (presumably the part below the note) was sent to the chancellor on 14 April 1541, suggesting that the lower part of the roll (mm. 2-3) forms part of the list of letters of denization authorised during 32 Henry VIII (1540-1541). Therefore, m. 1 is presumably part of the roll for another year, probably the preceding year (31 Henry VIII, 1539-40), but that cannot currently be confirmed. A rough date of c.1539-c.1541 has therefore been suggested. |
