England’s Immigrants 1330 – 1550 Resident Aliens in the Late Middle Ages

E 179/89/358 Part 9 [2396]

Archive: The National Archives
Reference: E 179/89/358 Part 9
Document Type: tax assessment
Document Date: aft. 1 August 1483
Notes: This Cornwall assessment is severely damaged and much deteriorated, particularly for the non-householder section. It probably does not end with Clays [...]. The final word on the document begins Penr[...] - this is probably a place name relating to Clays, and not a further individual. Given the nature of the complete and legible entries, each entry would have contained details of name, occupation, place of residence, and, for non-householders, the master's name if the individual was a servant.
