Diary of Events 2014

25th January 2014 – Jenn Bartlett will be giving a paper entitled ‘An Outsider on the Inside’ at the Outing Outsiders Symposium at Trinity, Dublin.

27th March 2014 – Chris Linsley will be talking about the project and his research at the symposium Sowing the Seeds Network: A Postgraduate and Early Career Workshop on Global History in Reading.

27th-29th March 2014 – Dr. Bart Lambert will be presenting a paper entitled ‘The Other Lombards: Economic Migration from Italy to England at the Close of the Late Medieval Period’ at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Renaissance Society of America, New York.

17th May 2014 – Dr Jessica Lutkin will be talking about the project and Irish immigration at the Mortimer History Society‘s Spring Conference ‘Britain & Ireland: Conquest and Colonisation 1300-1500′.

27th May 2014 – Prof Mark Ormrod will be talking about the project at the Bath branch of the Historical Association.

7th-10th July 2014 – The England’s Immigrants team will be attending the International Medieval Congress at Leeds University, and will be presenting in two sessions: 8th July, 9am-10.30am, featuring Prof Mark Ormrod, Dr Jonathan Mackman and Jenn Bartlett in a session on ‘England’s Immigrants 1330-1550: Structures and Scope'; and 8th July, 11.15am-12.45pm, featuring Dr Bart Lambert, Chris Linsley and Dr Erik Spindler in a session on ‘England’s Immigrants 1330-1550: Encounters and Exchanges’.

2nd August 2014 – Dr Bart Lambert will be talking about the project at the Guild of One-Name Studies’ Medieval and Early Modern Records Seminar in Pudsey.

3rd September 2014 – Dr Bart Lambert and Milan Pajic will be presenting a paper entitled ‘Justice in Exile: the Lost Flemings of 1351 and the Colchester Borough Courts’ at the 12th International Conference on Urban History in Lisbon.

3rd September 2014 – Prof Mark Ormrod will be presenting a talk entitled ‘Immigrant Communities in Yorkshire in the Middle Ages’ at Haxby Library, York.

21st October 2014 – Dr Bart Lambert will speak to the Durham branch of the Historical Association on ‘England’s Immigrants, 1330-1550′.

24th October 2014 – Prof Mark Ormrod will speak to the Doncaster and District Family History Society about the project.

15th November 2014 – Prof Mark Ormrod will be presenting the project at the Huddersfield Local History Society‘s study day, Monks, Migrants and Manors in Medieval Yorkshire in Huddersfield.

24th November 2014 – Members of the project team and the international board will be speaking at Ghent University‘s workshop ‘Conditions for Urban Immigration Policies in England and the Low Countries‘.  Speakers include Prof Jim Bolton, Prof Mark Ormrod, Prof Sarah Rees Jones and Dr Bart Lambert.
