Biographical Notes: For details of his life and career, see Meg Twycross, 'Some Aliens in York and their Overseas Connections: up to c. 1470', Leeds Studies in English, n.s. 29 (1998), pp.359-80, who also refers to him having his letters of denization examined and enrolled by the York civic authorities. He may have come from Harselt in Brabant, since he left property in that town in his will of 1430.
